Parting the Red Sea!

I couldn't help the title - and it always makes me think of a quote from Stargate SG-1, the season 8 episode "Reckoning (part 2)" (I think ...?), where Sam (Amanda Tapping) says:
"You know, you blow up one sun and everyone expects you to walk on water ... next up, parting the Red Sea!"

*LOL*

Anyway, since I feel like I'm more or less living in Exodus right now, I felt the connection made sense ... sort of! :)

I went to Uni fairly early today, I was there about 8.20 and got about 1½ hours work on my master's thesis done - reading an article on how to connect the Hittite suzerainty treaties between the Hittite king and his vassals to the Biblical mosaic covenant. Quite interesting!

At 10 there was an OT lecture, this time focusing on ... parting the Red Sea! *lol* (which, of course, never was the Red Sea, but I guess it's easier to refer to it that way because most people know what it is). Another very interesting lecture, and I'm even more looking forward to the rest of the lectures this week, as those texts will focus more on the covenant at Sinai and the ten commandments - and I'm doing my master's thesis on the covenant! :)

After lectures, Elisabet and I had lunch and planned the mentor meeting on Friday. It's a lot more difficult to find things to do on this part of the course, but I think we came up with a good plan, so hopefully the students will get something out of it as well.

Then I went to the library to get some more work done, but I quickly realized I need to work on my computer now, and of course I hadn't taken Sammy with me (as I'm dragging lots of other stuff these days - including two Bibles!) ... I guess I'm going to have to take him as well in the future. I do need to find a "bag" or something, to carry him in though. I have one, which is really good, but it's quite huge and it's quite difficult to get the computer in and out of the bag - and if I have to take it with me every day I feel I should look for something a bit smaller and easier to handle ... Guess I'll have to keep an eye open for that ...
I ended up going home early and I have gotten some work done tonight, although you always feel like you could do more!

I'll finish on the same theme I started with, Stargate SG-1 - some old graphics! And I guess you can tell my favourite character/actress is Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping?! *lol*
Enjoy!

Weekend Over + Blog News!

Wow, the weeks really do fly by now, don't they? A new one starting tomorrow ... already?

This weekend has been pretty "okay", though maybe not great. I did managed to get at least a bit done in my Greek studies, I don't feel I'm quite as far behind as I was feeling last week, though I still wish I had managed to catch up a little more. I know I know a lot, in Greek, but I still feel very insecure. I don't know how much, or how well, the other students know stuff (and it's difficult, because the level in the group is extremely diverse - there are those who know faaar less than I do, but still manage to get the sentences right, and there are those who seems to read fluent Greek without having to do anything), so it's hard for me to tell just how far behind I actually am.

Today has been mostly spent on my essay ... which really isn't going so great! I know I'm probably making this whole essay-thing into something way bigger than it actually is, but I still feel super-confused and I don't know anything. I have soooo many thoughts and embryos to ideas, but I have no idea how to make sense of them, if I can use them, and in that case, how ... I emailed my professor this afternoon, so I'm hoping to get a meeting with him during the week, to really talk this over. I hope I can really talk to him to, tell him how nervous and confused and upset I am about this, and hopefully we can start making sense of it all. I hope ...

This evening I took some relaxation-time and watched the second Stargate movie "Continuum" for the first time - and it was really great!! When I read the back, I was a bit skeptical, as I'm not (**some spoiler warning**) that fond of the time-line-alternating-storylines (I think the SG-1 episodes Moebius Parts 1 and 2 were fantastic, but mostly because of the writing and character work put into them, not so much the storyline ...) - but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by "Continuum" - it was way better than I had anticipated!
It was fantastic to see old familiar faces back in style again - most notably of course, Richard Dean Anderson as General Jack O'Neill! I really like the later seasons of SG-1, Ben Browder did a fantastic job coming in in season 9, but let's face it, Jack O'Neill really belongs in the Stargate universe! :)

Moving on to some blog news!
I have decided to cancel my "Jessica's Daily Pictures" blog as of now. (I have been thinking about it during the weekend) I don't get much out of it, and it has mainly become a pressure to update every day, find nice pictures, make interesting/funny/relevant comments to them etc. and I just don't have time for that.
Instead I will make it a part of this blog ... At the end of - hopefully - most entries here, there will be a "pic-of-the-day", with a short comment. That way I will be able to share all the pictures I want to share, but I will have no pressure to update every single day, and it won't be on a separate blog, it will only be a matter of inserting a pictures into this regular blog. I think that will work out for me, so I'm hoping that will work out for you too! :)
So here goes the first one!

Pic Of The Day

As I have been watching Stargate Continuum today, a tribute to the original SG-1 team here.
Here they are: Teal'c (Christopher Judge), Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) and Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping). While I don't think you can see it, the background is actually an image of the wormhole ...

Friday At Last!

Oh wow how good it feels to know it's Friday! Even though I have skipped two Uni days this week, it has felt like this week has lasted forever.
I went to lectures this morning - which was quite overwhelming, with both very positive and quite negative aspects! I had been told we were supposed to have these minor "exams" or tests every Friday, and since I missed two lectures I felt quite nervous about that. I studied like an idiot last night, and this morning (between 5 and 6.15 a.m. - I sooooo love the hours I keep these days *sigh*).
Once I got to Uni I ended up talking to a few other students I haven't talked so much with before, and that was nice. I really feel soooooo much more at ease in the University situations now than ever before, and I think I'm really developing a security within myself - I don't think I ever could have hoped to do that!!

We started at about 8.20 - and the first thing on the agenda was that the printer had apparently malfunctioned ... so we wouldn't get our tests!! Okaaaayy .... not that I'm complaining that it's officially okay to miss a test, but I studied a lot, and I would have liked to see how much I had actually understood. No such luck though ...
The first half of the lecture was spent going through the next chapter. I still feel I'm following the lectures in a very good way - but I also feel I'm a little uncertain as to how I really should study. Since this course is so HUGE - and I have to write an essay as well, in another subject - I have to ration what I do, I simply cannot learn everything by heart, because there isn't enough time ... the hard part is deciding on what to learn by heart and what you can managed to do anyway ...

The second half of the lecture was almost like torture to me!! The big exam we'll be having (on October 31st) will include the task of translating a text which we have never seen before, a text we haven't gone through during lectures, so the teacher thought it'd be a good idea to start practicing on that. He gave us some beginner's text used in courses in Classic Greek - and just started giving us sentences, completely unprepared!! Terror!!
Unfortunately I still get a lot of anxiety when it comes to reading and translating - and the fact that it was unprepared made it even worse of course - so I did spend most of my time and energy to figuring out which would be my sentence, how would I pronounce the words and was there anything I could say about them ...
I did get to read, and I try telling myself that it was a good thing, because it will even more de-dramatize my place in the group, it will make me feel more like one "in the group" and all that - and I guess it's true ... but I'm still having difficulties dealing with this. I think I'm gonna have to start working this through during the weekend, because I don't think I can go on like this for an entire semester.

After lectures I spent some time talking to a few fellow students which was nice - but since I got home, I have only relaxed!! I had told myself I could take this day off, and start again tomorrow, and it's been absolute heaven.
I have watched Stargate: The Ark of Truth - better late than never, right?! *lol* and am currently making caps from it, so hopefully some nice graphics will be coming. I've also watched a couple of episodes of Stargate: Atlantis (season 1) - niiiice!! (to quote O'Neill - who isn't even in either AOT or Atlantis, but you get the picture *lol*) I'm hoping to make separate entries on the movie and Atlantis later on (the movie, hopefully tomorrow!).

I'll try not to make tonight waaay too late, as I have to get up and start studying tomorrow, so I should think about signing off now.

Take care, I hope you all are enjoying your Friday and will have a lovely evening!

Feeling A Little Better!

I have survived Day #2 of Green studies as well, and truth be told, I do feel a little better today.
I still have a few issues, that aren't really great, but I'm at least feeling I could get something good from this semester. A lot of things were clarified during this morning's lecture, and I actually feel like I'm "getting it" ... so far anyway!
Naturally, we're still on a very basic level - after all, we've only studied for two days (!), but at least I feel I understand what the teacher says, and I think I make the connections we're supposed to make - so that's good, right?! :)

However, and I know this sounds totally weird, but I do miss Hebrew ... I still have notes from last semester left to retype, hopefully I'll get to that in a day or two, and I have to say I'm looking forward to writing my essay in Old Testament (Hebrew). I still haven't heard from the professor, I had hoped to get a private meeting with him before officially starting (which we'll do on September 9) - since I'm very insecure about it ... but I can't do more than email him, after all, it's up to him to get back to me. He doesn't have scheduled lectures this semester, so I guess he could still be on vacation.

After lectures today we had a "mentor-meeting", the first one I've ever been to. There's a girl who took this course last fall, who is our "mentor", she'll be there to support us, help with questions, study techniques, act as a mediator between the class and the teacher etc. and I think that is a great system. There weren't that many of us there, but I am very happy I could go. This would have been completely unthinkable, probably only two years ago, but now it felt okay, even though I was nervous.
What proved to be a real challenge was an "educational game" we played toward the end of the meeting, which included each and everyone of us standing up at the whiteboard in front of all the others. I know it wasn't really a big thing, it was meant for a little fun - and it was - but for me, it really was a challenge. There's only one girl on this course I know, so I didn't have a lot of comfort in knowing the people around me either.
But I did it, I really did, and it worked out! I think that things like these really proves that I have made the right choices in my life, that this is really what I should do with my life, and that I totally belong in this Department! Almost everyone I study with want to become priests, and all they want to do is complete their studies so they can get to work "for real" ... and I'm the opposite. I like the Department, I like studying - and I'm constantly seeing that I'm coping with and handling things I never ever did before ... and that's gotta count for something, right?! :)

After the meeting I went to a mall a bit outside of town and ran some errands, before going home. I've spent the afternoon studying, and preparing a birthday present for my Dad's partner, as it's her birthday on Friday. I find it difficult to know what to give her, so *fingers crossed* she'll like what I have come up with this time! :)

Studies have worked out tonight, hopefully I won't find out tomorrow that I've done everything completely wrong and backwards, but I don't think so. We were supposed to learn a number of things by heart ... and I'm not sure I can ramble it in my sleep, but I have a fairly good idea of it - and we were also supposed to translate 4 sentences - and that went really well. I'm actually amazed by it myself, I just looked at the first word, recognizing the form - that's a verb, in that particular form, that's a noun ... and voilà - I had a translation! *lol*
I definitely don't think it's gonna be that easy in the future, but at least I think I've figured out the basics now. Provided of course, I haven't gotten it all wrong! :)

Now, I'm gonna try to wind down a little, watching a DVD (probably Stargate - I tried watching Stargate: Atlantis today, when I was working on the birthday present, as I have just gotten the first season, but it's such a great show, I really feel I need to devote 100% of my attention to these new episodes, and I can't do that now, so I guess I'll stick with good ol' SG-1!), and hopefully be able to get at least 4-5 hours sleep .... :)

Take care!

Project Started!

Yes I did start my massive cleaning project today ... and of course it turned out to be waaaay more massive than I had antipicated. I really need to finish most of the appartment (except maybe the bedroom, which has been in complete chaos since I moved in here three years ago!) by the end of this week - because starting next week, I will start having people over here ...
I'm just not sure how I'll manage ...

I started in the kitchen today - and the more I did, the more things I discovered I needed to do. *little sigh* I haven't even finished the kitchen - but I did put up about 30 auctions at Tradera during the day, which took some time ~~click here~~ - but I haven't that much left. It's pretty much a matter of storting through, and cleaning, a bookshelf, run the vacuum, remove the carpets to scrub the floor properly ... oh yeah, and dusting everything in the window (lots of photoframes there). Then I'm pretty much done with the kitchen ... so I guess I'm making some progress at least.

I had intended going out to a mall, and some stores around town tomorrow - but now I'm wondering if I should save it for Friday. I haven't quite made up my mind yet, but it would definately feel nice to have gotten a little bit more done on my project before I'm giving myself almost an entire day off. But I'll have to decide that tomorrow (also kinda depends on when I'll wake up and how tired I am, because if I'm gonna make decent time tomorrow, I'll have to leave here at about 8.45 a.m.).

Got the movie "Clubland" in the mail today *yay*, but I haven't watched it yet. I'm in the middle of a massive 'Stargate SG-1' marathon at the moment - watching all ten season (yup, I'm nuts!) - and I want to finish that first. So far I've gotten to about mid-season three, and I have to say most of these early episodes are really great ... then again, most of the later episodes are also really great - guess that's why I'm such a fan of the show! *lol*
Just watched "Jolinar's Memories" and "The Devil You Know", and I really like that storyline. First time I watched it I was soooo amazed to see ... ****spoiler**** Apophis return ... they did a great job on his makeup too! :) And Sokar is a pretty cool Goa'uld - after all, a guy yaking on the persona of the Devil is really something, right?!!

Busy Day!

Today I have gotten quite a lot done, so I'm really pleased with my day!
I was up pretty early and did some light cleaning, and when the landlord's office opened at 9.30 I was there - feeling quite nervous and anxious. There were already people there waiting in line, so it took a while before I got to see him.
We dealt with a few matters, the "real" issue was my bathroom floor. I didn't get that much clarity, but apparently some professional "guy" will contact me and I guess I'll have to discuss the details with him. It sounded like I'd be able to stay home for the most part of it anyway, which is good - doesn't feel to happy about imposing on friends for weeks at a time ... also, since I have Zorro, it's not just me imposing, it's a crazy cat imposing as well! ;)

I felt quite relieved after having handled that meeting, but I still knew I had two phonecalls to make, so I couldn't quite relax either. I managed to gather strength and took care of those as well - yay me! Everything worked out very smoothly, and after that, I took a well-earned nap!

During the afternoon I took a walk downtown (takes about 25 minutes) and ran a few errands before walking home again. I haven't gotten that much done since I came home, but I did manage to start preparing some Tradera auctions! I have tons of stuff I should add, and I only had energy to fix 8 of them ... but if you want to check them out, feel free to do so by **clicking here**!

Unfortunately I didn't get my dvd package today :( ... but I couldn't help myself to a few more dvds today! *feeling a little guilty*
I bought the first Stargate movie, "Stargate: Ark of Truth", from Play.com - and on eBay I found the Aussie movie "Caterpillar Wish" (Philip Quast) rather cheap! :)
I'm so waay behind on Stargate - I haven't even seen "Atlantis", and I haven't seen the SG-1 movie "Ark of Truth" either - and now the second movie "Continuum" been released ... guess I have some catching up to do there!
And finding something with Philip Quast always makes me tick! I know I'm still missing a few movies - like "Me and Mrs. Jones" and the episode of "Inspector Morse" he's in ... but I'm definately keeping an eye out for them! :)

Confusing!

Nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defenses

Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night
('Music of the Night', Phantom of the Opera)

The lyrics seemed appropriate since I have desperately tried to turn day-and-night around now, in order to hopefully survive my exams next week. The heat has lasted very long now, and I'm getting totally fed up with it!! I don't usually like the heat, and being under the pressure of heaving studying and a really really important exam, didn't make it any easier!
However, not so simple to turn the day around ... I could do that a lot easier when I was younger. However, I did try to study until about midnight (though it was soooo hot inside, it was hardly possible to concentrate. I had intended to sleep on my couch with the balcony door open - which wasn't possible since Zorro was completely insane! I gets crazy sometimes during the day too, but if it's open at night, he gets completely insane!
["Lose it…it meant go crazy, nuts, insane, bonzo, no longer in possession of one’s faculties, three fires short of a happy meal…WACKO!"] (quote from Stargate SG-1, "Window of Opportunity" ... very funny episode! Lol)

So - forgive my little outburst - I had to close, but at least managed to get up at 4.30, at which time we only had about 16 degrees outside (still had about 27 or more inside though) [click here for a Celcius-Farenheit Convertor]. I opened up and has managed to study for almost 3 hours this morning - now I had to take a nap - and now I'm sitting here trying to wake up, while Zorro has one of his insano-attacks! I really do hope I can turn the day around now, becuase I won't have to be anywhere until Wednesday morning ... so hopefully I can get a lot of studying done at night, when I at least will be able to breathe ....

Now I'm starting to feel guilty about not studying, so I'd better get back to it!
Take care! And wish me luck!

A Very Long Day Indeed!

Oh wow, it seems incredible I'm even here blogging! I'm completely exhausted and am serioiusly considering going to bed at 8 p.m.!! :)

Yesterday was pretty terrible, I don't really know why, but the entire day was horrible! *shivers* Which of course I'm paying for now, since I didn't get much done, and now am even more behind! *deep sigh*
I stumbled up early this morning, and went to Uni around nine ... sat in the library constantly studying (except for an 8 minute long banana-coffee break <-- lunch!) until 3 p.m. - did get some stuff done, but most of this is very abstract with lots of lovely phrases and words nobody understands ... well, the problem arises when you're supposed to actually put words down on paper considering those fancy words and phrases you can't grasp the mening of ... It will not be easy to complete this paper, that's for sure!! At 3.15 we had the first of two seminars ... and I think the basic idea is really good - but I'm not sure if I think it turned out so good ... We're supposed to present our paper to the other members of a smaller group (though not me today as I was SO not ready!), and the other members are supposed to give feedback or even "challenge" the presentator so he or she can really clarify why they've written what they have, why they've reached a certain conclusion etc ... AND we were also supposed to discuss some "questions" presented to us at the beginning ... I felt it was interesting to sit in our little groups, but not much "happened" ... We mostly talked about how difficult things were and two members presented their work, but it was more like we just listened to it, I didn't experience much interaction ... Ah well - in one way or another I guess I'll survive both the second seminar on Thursday and the paper in itself ... We were done until after 5 p.m. so I wasn't home until 6 and by then I was completely out of it! I've eaten a little and spent some time in front of the computer, but there's not a chance in Hell I'm going to be able to study any more tonight - so I think I'll go to bed, and maybe I can get in a little while of studying before Old Testament lectures tomorrow ... might be a bit optimistic as I have to leave at 6.45, but who knows!? :) I made two Amanda Tapping graphics using a digi-scrap kit I downloaded a while back, I think they turned out pretty nice! Take care!

Slightly Schizophrenic

This weekend has certainly not been the greatest ... seems like I kind of hate weekends now, but everything works out really well during the week! *very weird*

I have actually gotten started on my third course now - the reading course in Hebrew - and about time too!! However, I hadn't quite anticipated it to be so intense, it's more work than I thought and everything is taken forever to finish! Also, there are things I can't for the life of me figure out, which makes it all the more frustrating!
But I am feeling almost dizzy now - trying to read and write a lot for Biblical Interpretation, translating Hebrew and reading litterature for the reading course, AND translating and taking lecture-notes for the regular Old Testament course! *shakes head*

I've been trying to study as best I can - but I'm completely exhausted and seeing as I have so much to do these days and everything takes so long, it's hard not to feel like giving up! I don't think I will - things have worked out fantastically well this semester, and it would be marvellous to finish it in a good way - but I can't say that I'm feeling great and happy and generally confident, that's for sure!
Also, I usually get spring depressions, which I haven't had this year yet, so I'm guessing that might be a cause for my tiredness and for feeling a bit down.
Hopefully I'll feel a bit better during the week, I usually do! :)

Take care - I hope you all had a great weekend!!

Mad At Myself!

I'm trying to get over an angry attack on myself that I had earlier today ... at least I'm coping with being around myself now, I guess that's a step in the right direction, right?! :)

Hebrew lecture 8-10 this morning, worked out quite well. Every minute going by I get reaffirmed this really is what I want to do, I am so interested and fascinated by absolutely everything - that's quite an amazing feeling actually!
I went straight home afterwards, and then things went a bit out of control! I fixed and ate lunch, and caught up a bit online. I felt really tired, so I got some coffee and thought I'd feel a bit better. I sat down, Zorro came and before I knew it, I'd fallen asleep - and I slept for two hours!!!! Totally NOT a good idea! I know that really says I am way too tired, but I can't really take that into account, because I don't have the time!!! The day only has 24 hours and I have to use as many of them as possible .... So that got me really mad about myself!! After that "little nap", I had such a hard time getting really awake, but at least I've been studying pretty effectively since about 5 p.m. - I guess that's something, right?!

Otherwise not much to report. Tomorrow will be a heavy day, with Old Testament (Hebrew) 8-10, studying at the Department, meeting friends for lunch at 11.30 and then Biblical Interpretation-lecture 1-3. We'd talked about having a 'sushi-night' as well, I've never even tried sushi - *ashamed* - but it looks like we all have a lot to do right now, so we might postpone it until things calm down a bit.

Unfortunately, I think I'm coming down with a cold ... probably as a result of the weekend with the kids! I do not have time to get sick, but I spoke to my Dad earlier and at least they hadn't gotten fevers there (yet!), so I'm hoping I can avoid that, at least! I'm trying every cure I can think of now ...
My back isn't really great either, I must have done something to it when I tried dragging Zorro home from Helsingborg ...
Ah well, I shouldn't complain!! Mostly things go really well for me now, so I should certainly be able to handle a few minor set-backs!

Made some new Amanda Tapping graphics too (actually, they're some kind of graphic/digi-scrap mix, but that works as well, right?! *lol*)! Enjoy!

The New Testament - A Crash Course!

Today has been all, all, all about studying ... and "Stargate SG-1" inbetween! *lol*
I quickly realized that if I'm going to be able to study the litterature for the New Testament course properly, I really need to read through the New Testament first ... I started a while ago, but didn't get THAT far ... today I started with the Gospel of John and actually finished it, right through the Book of Revelations ... though my head was aching so bad afterwards ... a bit too much of sacrificial lambs and blood and scrolls and Holy Spirits ...
Still, I'm really glad I got through it today, because that means I can start studying "more properly" tomorrow morning! I'm quickly realizing how very much I have to do now, so I hope I can stay efficient!
This last week was quite intense for me, and I was always exhausted when I got home, so I didn't get much studying done at home ... meaning I now have A LOT of it!! Next week seems to be a bit slower though, I have double lectures (Hebrew and New Testament) on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, but I don't have any lectures at all on Wednesday and Friday, so that feels very good! Since I'm travelling to and from Uni, only that takes about an hour in each direction, so being able to be home for an entire day make things a lot more efficient ...

In my breaks I'm currently going through my "Stargate SG-1" box! *YAY!* Watched "Heroes" a few days ago, and I had totally forgotten how wonderful those sets of episodes are ... really fantastic! Also, a true favourite is "The Lost City", which I recently watched (along with the follow-ups "The New Order") - boy, do I love this show or what?!!? Thrilled to actually find a {deliberate??} typo on the dvd with "The Lost City" ... it said Audio Commentary was by Director Martin Wood, and I have enjoyed his commentaries before, so I decided to watch it! And to my surprise and delight it turned out to be not only Martin Wood but also writer Robert Cooper AND my favourite actress Amanda Tapping!! *YAY! - again!* :)

Ah well, I know it's fairly early yet, but since Zorro usually decides it's time to go up at about 4 a.m. these days, I'd like to get early nights to get some sleep at least!
Hope you're enjoying your weekend! :)

Stupid Weekends!

Well, keeping in line with my "new life", my weekends continue to suck!
I had a really great Friday, that was a wonderful day - completely relaxing from studies and just doing whatever I felt like ... amazing!!
However, I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat and pains in my chest ... and soon came the fever!! I simply cannot get sick now, that's just not part of the plan, period!! I have tried every cold-cure I could think of - including chewing raw garlic, and I can only say I understand why that's supposed to work on vampires, that's for sure ... sooooo terrible!! At times I have seemed to get better, and overall I think I am, but I still get fever peaks, and I feel really tired and 'out-of-it' ... *sigh*
I had planned to get soooo much done during the weekend, and ... well, not much of it happened! I am greatful I didn't have any heavy studying that I had to do, for an exam or something, but I still would have liked to get stuff done - repeating Hebrew, cleaning, laundry and lots of other stuff I have postponed due to studies ... And on Tuesday I start the New Testament course, so then it's full speed ahead again ...

I really do hope I have nipped this cold in the bud, so I can start getting on with things tomorrow morning, because I really need to!!! And I do not have time to get sick, and that's final! :)

Finising off with some Stargate-graphics! :)

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Double Celebration!

I'm actually celebration double today ... although one celebration has been forgotten in everything that has been going on in my life, and is a bit late.
First and foremost, I'm celebrating my day off - I have taken every minute of today after lectures this morning off, just relaxing and doing what I WANT!! Wonderful!!
Yesterday was tough, with lectures in the morning, and the Old Testament exam at 2 in the afternoon! I think I did okay on the exam, and I should have passed! There's a re-organizing going on of the entire University education system in Sweden, and this also effects the grades, making everything even more confusing, but like I said, I should have at least passed (we get the exams back on March 13th, so keep your fingers crossed until then, will you?! )
We had lectures this morning too, and despite a certain nervousness with me, everything worked out great! I had only prepared a few sentences for today (understandably, right?!?), and I quickly realized that I would be asked to read/analyze/translate and also that it would be a sentence I had not prepared! This would have constitued a national crises had it been a year ago, and while I was a little bit nervous, it felt quite okay to read, and then say that I hadn't prepared anything ... I also managed to answer to a question in class, during the second half of the lecture - and I can't help but be amazed at how my life is right now (especially in Hebrew class) ...
The teacher is very soft spoken, but I'm wondering if he doesn't think that there are actually two of us, the "evil" Jessica was there last semester, and the "real" one is there now - because if I try to see things from an outside perspective, I actually feel like two completely different persons!!
So, finishing the end of this week in this way certainly requires celebration!

I also should have celebrated on February 13th ... but aparently that day simply flew by without me thinking about it's special significance ... but the fact it, that on February 13, 2006, I finished the sick-leave I had been on for close to four years and went back to full-time studies! Something to really celebrate, at least in my opinion!! I can't say that it's been great ever since, because that would be an outright lie - but I am first and foremost proud of the fact that I managed to come back to studies at all, after being away for so long!!! And if one looks to the way this semester has been so far, soooooooooo much has happened in these two years ...

I have had a fantastic day - I haven't done much, a few digi-scraps (not uploaded yet) and mostly TV and tacos (yeah!!!!) - I have watched six brand new Stargate-epsiodes so far!! *lol* Just now I finished "Window of Oportunity", I don't think I have laughed that much in a long time!!! Hilarious!!!! The time-loop sequence was probably my favourite, even though I don't think Sam and Jack should get together, their kiss in front of General Hammond was very memorable, also Jack and Teal'c golfing through the Stargate - wonderful episode!!
Apart from that, not much to say about this day!
I have tons of stuff to get done this weekend - but I had early on decided that this would be my "day off" - so I have completely foucsed on fun stuff today! I'll start on the "must-list" tomorrow morning! *lol*

Take care guys, I hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as I'm enjoying mine!

^^ Nemesis ^^

Okay, this will be a bit of a different entry, as I've been in the worst possible mood ever today ... but something a little bit funny happened, and I thought I'd turn that into a blog entry (instead of boring you all to death with my terrible mood!)

I took a break at some point today and decided to watch an episode of "Stargate SG-1"- yay!! Even though I've had the entire box set for a while now, I haven't had much time to watch it, and when I watch completely new episodes, I really want to be able to take the time and sit down and focus. So today I decided to watch one, and I had reached the end of season 3, so I would watch the season finale, "Nemesis" (hence the blog title *lol*).
And I was very surprised, because it turns out that "Nemesis" was actually the very, very, very, very first Stargate-episode I ever watched! *cool* I more or less "acidentally" turned into the Swedish TV6 channel this summer, when it did nothing but rain and I was stuck in the summerhouse with nothing to do. I distinctly remember this was the first episode, since it is rather special, with Jack, Sam and Teal'c on board Thor's space ship, AND of course, the replicators!! I remember enjoying the episode, having seen McGyver in my younger days I naturally recognised Richard Dean Anderson ... but I wasn't that thrilled. It took me about 4 or 5 episodes I think, which I saw at very uneven intervalls, before I was completely hooked!
I was surprised to find out that the first episode I saw was as early as the end of season 3, as I had always thought I came in sometime around mid-season 5 ...:) And little did I know at the time, that I had actually caught the very first Replicator-episode! Cool to the max! :)

Well, as this might excite some of you out there who are also completely into Stargate - the rest of you might figure out from this that I haven't had the most exciting day (after all, when the most fun and exciting event of the day is finding out what Stargate-episode was the first I ever say ... things have gone pretty far!!)!
I have been studying like an idiot for the exam tomorrow and absolutely nothing has worked out - nothing!!! It's taken forever, and I'm completely exhausted now ... so I'm gonna try to get some sleep now ... if I can!
I have two really terrible days coming up, but I hope I'll be able to make some kind of summary-blog-entry during the weekend, to get me back on track! :)

Hectic Schedule!

I am certainly keeping busy these days, that's for sure! I have lectures more or less every day (it's like I get one weekday off every three or four weeks ... something like that), and for Hebrew there are lots of preparations for each lecture - we have to prepare sentences to read and translate and analyze the grammar - and then of course, LEARN all the grammar as well (lot of things to learn and know by heart). I do have taken this course before, but I'm quickly realizing I still need to put a lot of time and effort into it, in order to really learn it, and that was after all the general idea!
My other course, Old Testeament Bible Studies, are also quite intense. A lot of literature to go through, and some seminars and papers to do as well. I'm not sure quite how well I'm doing there, as there are no "check-ups" (as we get in Hebrew), but I'm really trying hard not to fall too much behind on that either ... the first exam (of Old Testament, then we're moving on to the New Testament) is already on 21 February, so it's not THAT far away either ...

What feels absolutely wonderful and yet surprises me a great deal, is how good I'm actually feeling! I'm constantly tired, and I have had some minor set-backs, but overall, I'm really enjoying myself!! This feels like it's happened more or less over-night, but I guess it has in fact been a slow process, that I'm now clearly seeing the results of. I'm really starting to find my place at the Department, I am getting to "know" people I study with (Fairly sure I have found a constant "study-date" for Hebrew, which is a girl I've never spoken to before!), I know some of the teachers around the Department, well enough for them to great me in the corridors (interestingly enough, I have had some run-ins with our current head-of-department earlier, so I'm even on "greeting-terms" with him *lol*) ... and I'm completely enjoying myself at the Department! The social thing is not yet 'perfect' in any way, I'm not the social butterfly and I don't find it that easy to initiate contact ... but I take every oportunity given to me, and sometimes I actually can initiate as well - and I'm liking it more and more by the minute. Also just being at lectures is great, I'm absorbing knowledge like a dried-up sponge, I feel like I just can't get enough, and that's amazing!!! To feel that engaged and interested in something, that previous only caused panic and anxiety and stress and pain ... I am in awe ...

Okay, this turned out to be way more serious than I had intended - sorry about that! :)
I know my posts have become a bit more scarce now, I am hoping I will be able to go back to writing every day, because I really like doing that - but sometimes my schedule are just so crazy and I'm so tired, I can't bring myself to sit down in front of the computer.

Well, I don't think I have that much else to report!! Still totally happy with my new Stargate-stuff ... although I've hardly had time to check out the dvds yet .... ;) Since I'm currently juggling three courses at the same time, I will not ever have completely caught up, but I still feel I need to take breaks on occasion, to keep my energy levels up.

Looking forward to the end of the week now ... tomorrow we only have Hebrew lectures, which are 8-10, so even if I have to get up really early, at least I'll have most of today left when lectures are over ... and then I have nothing "planned" until next lecture which is on Monday at 1 p.m.!! Yay!! Naturally I'll be studying pretty much all the time, but it feels good not having to go away somewhere, you loose a great deal of time just travelling (buses, trains, waiting etc) - and I also don't get quite so tired when I don't have to go away to Uni ... so I'm hoping to get quite a lot of work done this weekend! :)

Take care, guys!

'Stargate SG-1'

Stargate,
It’s a great big world,
With a great big swirl that you step inside to another world.
We’re talking Stargate,
It’s a crazy trip,
You can go quite far and you don’t need a car or even a ship.
There’s Colonel O’Neill and Carter and Daniel and Teal’c.
Look out for that Go-go-go-go-go-goa’uld.

Well, I figure I'd start with the best news first! It's HERE!!!! I got my Stargate SG-1 DVD Box Set and it's the COOLEST!!! (just check out the picture!) After all the pains and miserys and hardships and worries, I finally got it! Woooo-hooooo!!! I have so limited time to watch new episodes now, so I have a feeling it will last a long time!! And it should, actually, as it contains 54 (!!) discs, all ten seasons, with 212 episodes and four bonus discs with tons of nice stuff!! *happy happy happy*
Not to mention, I got the perfect birthday gift from Annika today - totally suitable!! It was the book "Stargate SG-1 Illustrated Companion Seasons 1 and 2" ... so completely perfect!!! :) (Apologies for not having a picture of the book, my camera would totally not cooperate ...) YAY!!

Okay, not making this entire entry about Stargate! *lol*
The rest of the day has been mostly very intense and very confusing - with some really good stuff and other really bad stuff! On the really bad side of things I had to pay a customs fee for my Stargate Box, which was 564:- ... which is about US$90 - SO not fun! Also, found out that I kind of "owe" a state authority A LOOOOOT of money (it's a really long and really complicated story and I'm so not in the mood for that, sorry guys), and that just turned down my mood a great deal!

On the plus side of things was that I had a great lecture in Hebrew today - I really hope I can keep doing that and following these courses the rest of the semester, because the teacher is sooo great, and I really think it's THAT much fun! It's a lot of work, a whole lot of work, but it's very, very rewarding!
Also, I met Sara at Uni, which was great as I haven't seen her since our birthday celebration! We had company on the train home and I really enjoy talking to her (we tend to laugh a lot at the same things *lol*)!! :)

Not so great though - see, I have had a confusing day! - is that I've been very tired all day, and een though I had my mind set on finishing a paper for my Old Testament course for tomorrow there's no way I'll get it done!! It's so much work involved and I'm almost drowning in information, so it'll take some time to get it to work. Also, I'm gonna have to work a bit on my Hebrew now, as we are already entereing into stuff that I'm not completely sure of ... so I'm really feeling quite tired now.
I have lectures at 8 tomorrow, so I'll have to make it an early night tonight - as I have to leave here before 7 a.m. *yawn*

Take care, guys!

Trying To Prepare!

Guess it's time to start preparing for next week - week #2 of spring semester 2008!
I'm not completely happy with how the first week turned out, so naturally, I'm hoping for a better week now. Still lots and lots and lots and lots to do, but I really want this to work out, so I hope I can keep up! :)

Apart from quite a few lectures (most days I think it's two of them) I have to study a lot, as all courses I'm taking now are quite demanding! I'm also meeting a friend and her little baby (just over a month old - ADORABLE!!!) on Tuesday and I'm totally looking forward to that of course!

Not much else to write about though, I've spent the entire day studying, trying to catch up on Hebrew as well as writing a paper for the Old Testament course, so yeah, I'm busy! :)

Getting VERY annoyed with eBay though, even though I really know it's not eBay's fault ... but I STILL haven't gotten my Stargate SG-1 box!!! *angry* This time I checked out the seller in detail, so I don't think I've been ripped off again - I hope! - but it's still very strange! I payed on January 7th and on USPS website using the tracking number I got it said it had been shipped from Chicago on January 9th. When nothing happened I though it must have gotten stuck in Swedish customs, but before I emailed them, I thought I'd check USPS one last time ... well now all of a sudden it said my package had left Chicago on January 17th ... eh, HUH?!?!?! I sent an email to them straight away, but haven't heard anything.
I don't really mind if I have to pay to get it from Swedish customs, right now it feels like I don't care about anything just so long as I WILL GET IT!!! I've been shopping from eBay for years, now all of a sudden it's supposed to be completely impossible to recieve an item!?!? *deep deep sigh*
Okay, I know this is not the end of the world, and I'm not getting that upset about it, but I have payed a lot of money!!! First in November (or whenever it was, October maybe), I payed $215 and got ripped off ... and Paypal payed me back $175 - and now I've payed about $250 ... and I'm still not getting anything!
Guess all I can do is wait and see, I suppose ...

Now I'm going to try to wind down and get some sleep so I can get through next week in a decent way!
Good night!

Drastic Actions!

Well, I didn't get much response to my post on my websites and such, and since I've had a pretty rotten day today, I decided to get a bit drastic tonight!
I haven't finished going through everything (currently downloading the stuff from the websites I'm removing, to at least have some backup), but I have decided what will stay and what will go! :) I will make a separate webpage with the URL to all my websites that are current and active, when I've finished everything - naturally you will get the link here, so you can have everything in one place.

So far though, it looks like ending up like this:
Blogs:
  • Another Day - Another Destiny
  • Ytterligare ett försök - version 2.0 (Swedish)
  • Att leva med social fobi (Swedish)
  • Stargate SG-1 (will have a new look and a new URL)
Forums:
  • The World of 007 (looks like the activity might pick up there now, so I'm keeping it for a while at least)
  • Possibly a Forum connected to my Flying Doctors site
Websites:
  • Jessica's Flying Doctors Page (will go through a make-over and a move to a new URL first)
That's it!! I've removed a number of blogs, will close at least two websites and have deleted two forums ... yup, I'd say that qualifies for a drastic evening, wouldn't you?
Still, websites and such are supposed to be fun, right? Mine was only causing me stress and trouble and problems, so no use in keeping them, right?! :)

Oh yeah, I downloaded this really cool digi.scrap-kit earlier, and found out it would work very well for graphics! :) What do you think?

Like I've said, I've had a pretty rotten day today, but I hope it was a temporary set-back and that I can be back-on-track tomorrow again! :)

Websites, Forums and Blogs!

Since I am about to start the most demanding semester I've ever gone through on Monday, I figured this was as good a time as any to try to figure out what to do about all my websites, blogs and forums - because I seem to have a ton of them and I have no idea what to do with them! (Currently mostly thinking I'll delete everything except this blog, but that might be a tad too drastic ...)

I'd really like to hear my visitors opinion on this, wether you visit any of my blogs/websites/forums and in that case which ones, if you want me to keep some in particular or if you don't really care which! ;) Comments are usually rather scarce here, but I want to point out that I'm really giving you a chance to say what you think here ... otherwise I'll just decide on my own! :)
Some things regarding this I already KNOW, so I will list them here (they are non-negotiable!), but with regards to everything else, I really welcome your opinion!

Okay, this is what I really know:
  • This blog - Another Day Another Destiny - will stay in its current form! It seems to be getting visitors and I'm happy with the way it's working now.
  • I will also keep my Swedish blogs Ytterligare ett försök - verison 2.0 (which hasn't officially even started yet!) and Att Leva Med Social Fobi.
  • My Stargate SG-1 blog will move to a new location and undergo some changes, but will stay and will hopefully be updated on a regular basis.
  • Jessica's Flying Doctors Page will move to a location as well as get a new layout, and I will also start up a Flying Doctors Forum to replace the crappy Bravenet forum that currently exists.
That's what I've decided so far ... but there's lots more to decide upon! What is left of all my "projects" (and I appreciate your thoughts and comments on these ...) are:
I'm hoping to reach a decision about this fairly soon - so comments are very much appreciated! Yes, I'll stop nagging you know, sorry! :)
Hope you're all having a great Saturday!

Buried In Notes!

Definately a study-focused day today! I have gotten several advices regarding this upcoming exam, and they all say "study your notes, loose the books"! Aparently this teacher only asks questions on things raised at the lectures, and I'm happy to "only" have to go through my notes!
They are quite extensive though, and I also have all of Johannas notes, so I'm certainly keeping busy, that's for sure!

I don't think I've "wasted" much time today, but I still can't help being a bit frustrated about things taking so long time! I know what I want to do, what I need to do, in terms of studies, but everything seems to take soooo long ... guess I can forget about sleep until next Thursday! *yawn*

I realize there are lots of 'other' stuff I want to do, such as work on blogs and websites, start becoming active in Forums and Message Boards, making graphics and digi-scraps ... but I'm going to have to put off everything except studies and a few hours sleep (and possibly some food every now and again) until I've taken this exam!

Did start to look through the schedules for next semester, and if things go as planned, I will certainly keep busy even after this exam is done!! Still, more on that when I know it's definate - I have a meeting on Tuesday to see what will happen!

Did relax a while tonight, so I made a Stargate graphic, while talking to Annika on YIM ... seriously hoping my Stargate SG-1 box will arrive soon!! *fingers crossed* It does look like it will be the perfect birthday present for myself (because even if it should arrive before that, I won't be able to check it out until next weekend - and my birthday is the Monday after that)! :)

Well, back to my notes on Martin Luther! Wish me luck!
