I'm Working On It!

I have been feeling a lot better today - thank you for that! One week of constant headaches is more than enough, that's for sure!
I haven't been 100% effective today, but I have been doing more than in the last few days, and I guess that's something, right?!
I think the main thing is that I'm actually feeling better in myself, I feel motivated and I want to deal with things now! I guess something good must have come out of those headaches after all, right?!

Anyway, it takes some getting used to to be active again ... I've more or less spent the last few days at least actively trying to get rid of my headache, now all of a sudden I'm supposed to deal with studies, cleaning, laundry and other stuff ...

By the way, once incident from this weekend that I forgot to mention in my last entry, that I feel is worth thinking about.
I think it was on Saturday, I felt a bit better from my headache and I needed to run some errands downtown. When I got there they had this "market" (nothing fancy, but there are a bit of a 'cosy' feeling strolling around there, and it does attract some people!), so I thought I'd look around. I'm usually drawn to the 'book-table', although I'm never really buying anything. But now I saw they had quite a lot of Enid Blyton books. I was totally addicted to her 'Famous Five'-books when I was younger, and for a period I decided to collect those books, and others by Enid Blyton. It's been a while since I was an active collector, but when I saw the price on these books, I couldn't resist! You could get 5 books for 20 SEK!!! (20 SEK is about US$3) I got five really nice 'Secret Seven' books - and they had even more, so I guess I'll have to take a look there on the next market as well!
But the thing is .... When I was walking away I started thinking!! Without giving it much thought at all, I had actually bought these books on market - not in a supermarket where the 'general shopping rules' apply, and I realized that this is something I would never have done three, maybe even two, years ago!!! I think I notice this, because I've always wanted to be able to buy stuff at markets, it seems so much nicer and more customer friendly than buying stuff at a huge supermarket, but I've never felt I could do it ... and now I hardly even hesitated!!!!!! There was a brief moment, when I wondered how to attract the attention of the guy running it - but it was nothing that really bothered me, and it worked out great!!
Little things like this really gives my self confidence a boost!

Slow Motion!

I don't really know why today has been so slow! Sure, I'm tired and worn out, after this intense week, but I still took it really easy yesterday, tried to catch up on some sleep etc ... but despite that, I've felt completely exhausted today!
Not much has been done unfortunately, so I don't really feel prepared for next week!
It's not that heavy, but things seem to pile up - lectures, meeting my mentor, working on group projects ... Guess I will be keeping busy after all, right?! :)

I did finish Patricia Cornwell's Blowfly this morning ... don't really know if I liked it or not! I mean, I do like the Scarpetta-books, and I like Patricia Cornwell, but this was definately not one of my favourites!
Have to say I'm not very fond of the changes she's making in the books. From the beginning, she always wrote in first person, as if Kay Scarpetta herself was telling the story, and she always wrote in imperfect, telling a story that had already happened. In The Last Precinct she changed it from imperfect to present, which I felt was very confusing! Normally when you read a book, you are told a story, here you somehow followed the story as it was happening: (not a real-quote, just an example): "I walk into the kitchen and pour myself a cup of coffee as I think about what happened last night." I somehow find it a little hard to read the story like that. I did sort of get used to it during The Last Precinct and the same technique is used in Blowfly too - only this time Cornwell writes in third-person, so it's no longer Scarpetta telling the story, or even being the main character. I can in a way understand the need for these changes, but I can't really say I like them ....
Blowfly was a good book, no doubt about that, but I couldn't help feeling the storyline was somewhat thin and a bit confusing - not really very believable at times (won't spell out exactly what I mean, since that would be a MAJOR spoiler) ... and the different use of the language was also something that I didn't quite like.
I'm anxious to get Trace and Predator to see what they are like too!

Finishing off with some digi-scraps I made earlier! Enjoy!

Celebrity Meeting!

Yes, I had a "celebrity meeting" today!
If you have read my previous entries, you know that a well-known Swedish author called Camilla Läckberg is currently on a signing-tour for her new book, "Tyskungen", and I was going today! It was really a great oportunity, my Mum introduced me to her books during Easter holidays, and I read the first three on the spot. I read the fourth one during the last few days, and now she was releasing and signing the fifth.
It was not all joy though, because struggling with Social Phobia means these things are not easy to do. Since I have been feeling bad for the last couple of months as well, I hardly feel up to new challenges either, so this was quite straining. Since public transport isn't the best on weekends, I was at the mall where Camilla would be at 2, her signing would start at 3.30!! The waiting was probably worse, because it's hard to deal with high levels of anxiety over a long period of time. I didn't have much choice but to manage - but when it was 3.30 we were told Camilla would be late (or "told"- there wasn't a lot of people and I pretty much overheard the staff of the bookshop talking about it!), which didn't surprise her. I'd checked out her schedule, which was totally intense, she'd pretty much needed a helicopter to get around to every place she had to be!
At about a quarter to four she came rushing in, apologizing for being late! She was so nice and friendly, and seeing as she'd been on the move since 10 in the morning, signing books in four three different places - and done some travelling - I found that quite remarkable! I was quite insecure as to how this was done, so I kind of just hung around ... it was not a lot of people, so Camilla took her time, talking to everybody and being really friendly! Eventually I joined the line, and when I reached her, she was so nice! I told her I'd just finished reading the previous book, and she pointedly told me (in a very friendly way!!) that I was "cheating", since the procedure was that you had to wait a year between books! :) :)

This was a really nice experience, and I have to say that I'm very happy about having gone through with it. The way I've been feeling lately, I haven't managed to take on any challenges besides Uni, but I'm really happy that I did today! :)

I spent over an hour waiting for a bus home, but I didn't mind much! The friendly conversation with Camilla was still fresh in my mind, and it also gave me an oportunity to start reading the book! :) :)

For a change - this has been a really good day!!

Take care!
